I am taking a page from a fellow blogger and writing about my walk with God. So many amazing things have happened and I just can’t share with everyone because of the miles between some or that I have yet to meet you! I will post about my walk for as long as I have something to share. I hope that this will be an encouragement to you and help you to see that no matter where you are in your walk God ALWAYS has something that He wants to share. If you do not know God then I encourage you to seek Him out. I hope that this story will show you the power of God and most importantly how much He loves you!
If you know me then you know I am not the outdoorsy type! Don’t get me wrong, I love nature. It’s God’s creation and I marvel at it all the time. I just don’t like the bugs and the extreme heat or extreme cold! All that to say that I do LOVE the seasons. I love the metaphor that it has for life. My two favorite seasons are fall and spring. I love fall obviously for the colors but also for the sense that you feel the anticipation that something is about to happen. A change is in the air. It is about to get colder and everything will soon pass away making way for something new and even more beautiful…spring! Spring is so sweet! I love the smell of spring, the rain, the fresh smell of flowers and so on. Everything seems to be brighter, fresher, cleaner and clearer.
I believe that people go through seasons as well. Some people call them the “ups and downs of life”, the “highs and lows” or even “mountains and valleys”. I am in a season…fall. Changes are taking place and God is getting rid of the old to make way for the new. While going through seasons you don’t enjoy them. I don’t think. They are tough but if you are willing to submit and stay the course then the fruit is so sweet. However, it is staying the course that is the hardest for me. God reveals areas that I need to surrender and purge all to make way for what He’s got in store. It’s going through the desert and then passing through the fire: the refining fire. This is where God begins to mold you into His likeness. It is a time of getting rid of all the impurities in your life. It’s not easy, it’s fire after all but when it is done you can see and feel the difference! I believe that when you go through these seasons it’s not just God saying here’s your sin issue-deal with it and move on. It’s God saying here it is, be set free and share! I believe that everyone has a story, a testimony to share, to minister and to speak into another person’s life.
So what is my season about? Fear! And control! They go hand in hand when you think about it. You try to control that which you fear in the hope that what you fear will not come true. It’s not so much that fear is a sin. It’s what I do with it that becomes sin. For me, it’s not giving it up. Not laying it down at the cross and LEAVING it there. I believe that women in particular struggle with this. Once we get married and have kids we realize that we are responsible for these sweet little, helpless children. We make it our goal to protect them at all costs not ever realizing that these children were given to us by God. I was told recently that our kids are on loan from God. They are His, not ours. Our responsibility is to study them and pour into their lives. Hmmmm…
That is not all that we fear and want to control. The list goes on and on. You can fill in the blanks. For me during this season I am trying hard to be obedient to God…to listen to Him and act. This is my first act…sharing.
