Two More Weeks...

...Lord willing. Ever since Abby arrived I have been itching to lace up and hit the road for some good summer runs. I know, sounds crazy on so many levels but I am a runner and I feel that now more than ever as I see or rather hear Jon leave for his 4:30 am runs during the week and his training runs on the weekends. (He is currently training for the 1st San Antonio Rock and Roll marathon in November. WooHoo!!!!) The green monster has reared its head on more than one occasion as Jon continued his running and my runs had to take a back burner to being safe for Abby. I did try to run while pregnant and before anyone gets all huffy about how dumb or dangerous it is I had the ok from my doctor. I did stop in my second trimester as it was just too cumbersome to run. Guess its a little harder for short girls with big bellies. :) Now that Abby is almost a month old (on Father's Day-too sweet!) I have two more weeks to wait to get the ok from my doctor to begin my running. I can hardly wait! I know it will be tough to get reacclimated to running in the summer but I am ready. I miss lacing up my Asics and putting on the technical gear to go out and run. I miss the way it was just me and nature or music depending on my mood. I miss the feeling of being completely dirty & drenched yet feeling so clean after my runs. I miss it all and can't wait nor can Jake. He keeps asking when I'll be able to run again because this time he won't be in the jogging stroller. He'll be riding his bike. The stroller is now reserved for Abby...when she gets bigger.
And this time next year it won't be Jon training for a marathon...it'll be mine!!!!

*Before anyone asks about my red laces on my orange shoes it is not some running trend, well sort of. The red laces I actually bought (from Stride Rite no less) and replaced my white ones for the red. Why? Saucony, a running shoe company, is promoting them to raise awareness against childhood obesity. It's a campaign that I feel passionate about. So, if anyone asks-that's why!

I hope you get the go-ahead from your doctor soon! I know it will feel so good for you to get out there and run-run-run!!!
