On Tuesday we had the opportunity to go to a construction site. Our friends are building a house and Stacey called me Monday night to invite us to go and see them pour concrete. Stacey knows Jake well enough to know that if there is a tractor, Jake wants to be there. When we told Jake that night he immediately told us that he had to wear his construction hat (good thinking) and that he was going to go work on a construction site tomorrow.
So we got up a little earlier than normal and made our way to their site so that we could watch them pour the concrete onto the slab. Jake was in heaven. Stacey has two boys around Jake’s age and they play together sometimes so you can only imagine that Jake was loving it! Tractors and friends! When we got there Stacey’s husband, Peter who is a home builder and building their home, took the boys around the site of the house and explained everything that was going on. Once they got the low down they were off! There was plenty of dirt, boards, and other things for them to play with. We were only supposed to be there for about an hour but we wound up staying for about 3 ½ hours! Mind you it was a hot day! They didn’t care! Later on some of Stacey’s neighbors who are also our friends came over to play as well as a few more friends. There were a total of 10 kids playing and 4 mommies watching. (Abby was there too so that makes 11 but she was being loved on by all the mommies. She was a little too young to play in the dirt. Just wait!) It was a very fun morning and Jake was tuckered (and dirty!)…as I’m sure all the kids were!
