Two years ago I remember calling our pediatrician several times within a week telling them that something was wrong with Jake. He had a really bad persistent cough that hadn't gone away in days. I was on the phone every day with them until they finally told us to come in and listen to him. There they did a breathing treatment and we had to continue them at home for about a month. Needless to say, we found a new doctor soon after that even an allergist. They never told us exactly what was wrong but it was spring time. Any allergy sufferer knows that spring time is killer on your allergies!
Fast forward two years and here we are again. This time I went straight to our allergist. An awesome woman and her nurse is too!!! They told us to come in so that they could listen to him. Then decided that we needed to do an on-site breathing treatment. If you know Jake, he doesn't like loud sounds or scary things. Well the nebulizer makes loud sounds and he has to wear a mask to get the treatment. I couldn't hold him down so the nurse did it and she was great with him. (By the way, Jake is one STRONG kid. So to hold him down takes alot of strength! ) Once the mask was on he calmed down and the nurse encouraged him the entire time. He also got not one but two lollipops! After the doctor came in she concluded that Jake has allergy induced asthma. Bummer!!!! (Funny what they say though about a mother's intuition. I kinda thought that was the issue. I just didn't want it to be.) So for now we are doing treatments and taking meds to get it under control.
Here's a little pic of our little trooper doing his treatment.
